The bronze sculptures of two lions cast in bronze were placed on the western access to the “Goce Delcev” bridge in August 2010.

The lion sculptures stand five metres in height and weigh five tons each. The postaments, made by the Beton company, are 3.5 metres tall and contain reliefs of historical figures from the period of Ottoman-era revolutionaries.

The casting of the reliefs of these two lions and the other two placed on the opposite access of the bridge was indicated in the second report on Skopje 2014 by Slagjana Taseva and Dragan Malinovski who were hired as experts by the municipality of Centar, as a questionable payment that had damaged the municipal budget.

This is because the tender documents for the service envisaged a total area of 74 square metres. However, 17,84 square metres of them were never cast, which cost the Centar Municipality a total of 133,800 euro.
