The monument to Gjorce Petrov is located on the ring road in the eponymous Skopje municipality.
The statue of the Macedonian Ottoman-era revolutionary dominates the space with its height of 6.5 metres, standing on a 3.5 meter postament. The massive monument was cast in bronze at the Jeremic foundry in Serbia. The foundry was selected via an electronic auction between four bidders.
The monument was unveiled on June 2, three days before the second round of parliamentary elections in 2011, drawing claims that it was part of the election campaign of the ruling party, which the municipal authorities denied.
