In the wake of the centenary of the 100th anniverary of the birth of the famed Skopje-born nun, the Memorial Home of Mother Theresa was ceremonially opened in 2009.

It was built in front of the entrance, i.e., the front façade, of the Army Hall, on the location where the Sacred Heart Catholic church used to stand previously, and where Mother Teresa, the patron saint of missionaries was christened.

The building has cultural heritage status, although it caused a debate and a divergence of opinions in the public over the design of the architect Vangel Bozinovski.
