“The Bull” was positioned in the central urban area on the pedestrian Macedonia Street in 2009, accompanied with another ten other sculptures that were part of the so-called first wave of the “Skopje 2014” project.

The author of the bronze sculpture, a replica of the world-famous New York City “Bull” on Wall Street, was Darko Dukovski. The similarity with the iconic New York landmark drew stark criticism from plagiarism and claims that it had no symbolic significance, or relation to Skopje. The author explained his work as a manifestation of strength and served as a symbol of fertility in ancient Macedonia.
